The upcoming 2015 Audi TT has been spied undergoing some night time testing.
Luckily for us (and Automedia's spy photographers), it was caught out wearing very little camouflage, giving us the best look yet at the third-generation TT.
Styling seems to be evolutionary, staying largely reminiscent of its predecessor, albeit with a much more aggressive front end, thanks to new angular headlights and a larger front grille. Flared wheel arches, a dual exhaust system and updated taillights complete the exterior changes to the next-generation TT. Rumour has it that engine options will include a 1.8-litre four-cylinder producing 132kW, and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder generating 162kW or 221kW, both of which will be turbocharged. This represents a bump in power, even though the new engines share the same displacement as the old. Fingers crossed Audi whips up a top-spec TT RS with a five-cylinder engine, like they did in the outgoing model /reviews/2010/sports/audi/tt/audi-tt-rs-21608.
The 2015 TT should not only be more powerful, but also lighter as well, thanks to being built on the same platform as the Audi A3 and S3 and Volkswagen Golf VII, known as the MQB platform. This means the new TT should be better in both performance and economy. Expect an official reveal of the next-generation Audi TT in early March at this year’s Geneva motor show.
