SPY PICS: Opel's not-so-visible facelift for Insignia

You might be struggling to pick the changes here, but Opel is about to upgrade its Australia-bound, mid-size Insignia model

These Carparazzi spy photos show the mid-size Opel Insignia with the minor facelift it will wear when it arrives in Australia in November this year.

The shots were captured in Europe and give a rough idea of the minimal changes that are the first to appear on the car since its German launch in 2008.

The Insignia follows the mildly-updated Opel Corsa, which bears a radiator grille similar to the one depicted here and will be followed by similarly facelifted Opel models anticipated during the next few months.

For Australia, the insignia is expected to come with the choice of a 162kW/350Nm 2.0-litre petrol turbo and a 118kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbodiesel that is also mooted for Australian Opel Astras.

Bypassing the six-speed manual transmission available in Europe, both engines will drive through a standard six-speed automatic transmission when the Insignia arrives in Australia.

Australian pricing of the Insignia – which replaced the Opel Vectra model in Europe – is likely to be somewhere between the Honda Accord Euro and Volkswagen Passat.
