SPY PICS: Peugeot 308 CC
Engineers stay snug and warm under the covers as they test the next drop-top model from PeugeotPeugeot has just released the 308 in Australia, but they're not done yet.
We've already seen the 308-based 3008 MPV (more here) and now, through the wonders of the modern photographic art and 'No-Doze' tablets, the narcoleptic spy photographers at Carparazzi have brought us these pics of a folding-roof model, undergoing cold-weather testing in Sweden.
It's hard to know whether all the camouflage -- which looks like a doona pile on the move -- is there to defeat the eyes or keep the occupants warm in Sweden's frigid climes.
As with the 307 CC, the new car will feature a folding steel hard-top roof. Carparazzi understands that the new car will not be very different in external dimensions from the current three- and five-door hatches, but as rumours has it, the 308 CC may be the first Peugeot to introduce a production diesel/hybrid drivetrain.
In addition to the diesel/hybrid variant, the 308 CC range will also be available with the standard engines fitted to the more prosaic 308 models. We first brought you the news that the diesel/hybrid combination would be introduced in the 308 range around 2010 (more here), but if the diesel/hybrid 308 CC variant goes on sale with the launch of the other variants, it will come to market in the northern hemisphere spring (our autumn), next year -- barely a year from now.
