SPY PICS: Porsche polishes Cayenne

Spotted by the Automedia team sloshing around in late-winter Europe, these Porsche Cayenne test mules embrace just about the whole 2015 model range, from the Turbo range-topper to the upcoming plug-in E-Hybrid that is expected to replace the current S-Hybrid.

Although the disguise panels clapped on the front of the cars pictured here might suggest otherwise, the cosmetic changes are likely to be pretty minimal, centred on what appears to be a larger grille and a rearrangement of the outer air-vents and running lights.

The back end – apart, once again, from the bumper moulding embracing the twin exhaust outlets – looks to be carried over, although the tail-light lenses will surely end up being modified in some way.

It has been mooted that Porsche will replace the existing Cayenne’s atmo V8 engine with the new 309kW/520Nm twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 recently introduced in the facelifted Panamera, and that all models except the E-Hybrid and the diesel will come with Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Speaking of the Cayenne diesel, there are rumours that the more powerful 221kW version (the current diesel produces 180kW) used in the latest Panamera will also find its way into the updated Cayenne.

The revised Cayenne is expected to make its first appearance at the New York Auto Show in April, with an Australian market introduction taking place later this year.
