SPY PICS: Renault Koleos to cross the line
Next generation Renault SUV looks set to add quite a bit of MPV to its DNARenault’s Nissan X-Trail-based Koleos will veer off in new directions when the next version is introduced late 2014, early 2015.
The car in these Automedia spy pix appears to be largely based on the Scenic MPV. It even wears Scenic badges. But we are assured it is the basis for the next Koleos, which will lean more towards MPV than SUV – although word is it will retain some ability to venture off the beaten track.
The MPV-like stance suggests the next Koleos will offer a better deal for passengers than the current car (which is quite competitive in its class) although it is commonly believed it will ride on a Nissan SUV platform, presumably a size above its recently launched Captur crossover that also combines the abilities of SUV and MPV.
The next generation Koleos was previewed by the R-Space Concept developed under the direction of designer Laurens van den Acker and revealed at the 2011 Geneva motor show. Renault believes the R-Space proved “that an MPV can be cunning and innovative.”
