SPY PICS: Rolls-Royce Spectre driven in anger at Green Hell

Tough testing regime continues for Rolls’ first EV ahead of late 2023 launch

The 2023 Rolls-Royce Spectre could well be the sportiest and more athletically gifted Rolls to date, as suggested by these fresh spy shots showing the official prototype pumping out laps of the Nurburgring.

Rolls-Royce has made no secret of the fact the Spectre will be fast both in a straight line and through corners, as evidenced by the 625,000km worth of testing it carried out around the French Rivera earlier this year.

But the Nurburgring has long been heralded as the ultimate proving ground for performance cars, which is why most manufacturers spend tens of millions of dollars every year developing their new models around the infamous 20.8km public road circuit, and Rolls-Royce is now clearly one of them.

Complete with Flying Lady mascot, the all-electric Spectre coupe can be seen pitching into turns with its driver asking serious questions of the suspension and low-profile rubber on huge alloy wheels.

In one image the Spectre can even be seen lifting an inside wheel as it enters the famous Caracciola-Karussell banking.

There’s very little to report in terms of the car’s stylistic development, save for the headlights now being free of the yellow text that forms a key part of its camouflage and the subtly tweaked design of the alloy wheels.

They now have a less pronounced contour on the spokes and feature subtle longitudinal ribbing running down each one.

The Rolls-Royce Spectre is anticipated to arrive on Aussie soil in the closing stages of next year, when it will become both the brand’s inaugural electric vehicle and an indirect Rolls-Royce Wraith successor.
