SPY PICS: Significant upgrade coming for Porsche Cayenne

Our spy photographers have snapped not one but two camouflaged Porsche Cayenne prototypes undergoing cold-weather testing in Sweden.

Previewing what’s expected to be a midlife MY2023 update, the two development vehicles comprised a wagon and a coupe and were both fitted with disguises front and rear, with the wagon in particular flaunting some noticeable changes – primarily at the rear.

As you can see in these images, the upgraded Porsche Cayenne wagon’s nameplate has been moved from the centre of the tailgate to the rear bumper – as per the coupe – meaning the high-end family hauler is in store for an all-new rear fascia, as alluded to by the redesigned lighting signature.

Said lighting signature will predictably be shared by the revised Cayenne Coupe, as will the revised front fascias given the photographed vehicles are wearing the same disguise.

Going on face value (what we can see), it seems the 2023 Cayenne line-up will be gifted a more aggressive look upfront with a similar overall design to the current GTS and flagship Turbo GT, albeit with slimmer headlights that seem to be the ‘must have’ design feature of the past few months.

According to our sources in Europe, the Cayenne’s interior will also be getting a refresh; primarily in the form of a redesigned centre console and 911-inspired gear levers.

“Extensive changes will also happen under the hoods, with most of the powertrains being already previewed in the Panamera facelift,” they added.

The current generation Porsche Cayenne launched here in 2018 exclusively as a wagon, before it was joined by the swoopy and more athletic Porsche Cayenne Coupe in 2020.
