The Kia EV6 has been in production for almost three years, which means the popular electric car is drawing close to a mid-life update – and that’s exactly what our spy photographers have spotted in Germany this week.
Wrapped from nose to tail in dense camouflage, the heavily disguised prototype’s silhouette is easily recognisable as that of the Kia EV6.
But the same can’t be said of its front lighting signature, which has been radically overhauled as Kia updates its ever-evolving design language.
It’s clear from these spy images that the facelifted model will look very different from the current EV with its bigger, lower-positioned headlights, redesigned indicators, new front apron and revised alloy wheels.
The new-look front fascia will be matched with an extended rear lighting signature and refreshed bumper design.
It’s unclear at this stage if there’ll be any major changes to the cabin design, as seen on other updated Kia models, particularly given the EV6 was the first to debut the panoramic dual-screen layout.
Odds are the infotainment operating software and graphics will be given an overhaul, paired with a revised dashboard and centre console layout.
No major changes are tipped to be made to the core powertrains, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a software update improved the driving range of each model – if only slightly – while the flagship GT could score the virtual gearshift system applied to the related 2023 Genesis GV60 earlier this year.
The mid-life update is expected to put further upward pressure on Kia EV6 prices, which currently open at $72,590 plus on-road costs for the Air RWD, topping out at $99,590 plus ORCs for the rabid GT.
