SsangYong has electric ambitions for Tivoli

Korean car maker teases new range-extender electric version of its all-new Tivoli SUV that was revealed at the Geneva motor show

SsangYong has revealed a new electric hybrid concept version of its small Nissan Juke-rivalling SUV.

Called the Tivoli EVR, the new electric SsangYong SUV concept is powered by 95kW electric motor that has a range of 130km and a top speed of 150km/h.

The 130km range can be boosted to around 630km with the addition of small 1.0-litre two-cylinder petrol range extender. This raises tailpipe emissions to 40g/km of CO2.

Although only a concept it’s rumoured the new electric version of the Tivoli could follow the 91kW 1.6-litre petrol into production and possibly be on sale as soon as late 2016.

In Europe the Tivoli range goes on sale this May but SsangYong's local distributor, Ateco Automotive, says the Tivoli is "not absolutely certain for Australia yet".
