The German car industry does a great job of making fast, luxurious cruisers. But the German aftermarket industry is also very good at tuning yesterday's has-beens.
Take the 2013 Audi S7. You can snaffle one on our sister site, carsales.com.au for around $90,000 with around 50,000km on the clock.
That's half of what it cost four years ago, according to Australia's leading pricing authority RedBook.com.au, which lists the 2013 Audi S7 as priced at $179,900.
That Audi S7 packed a twin-turbo 4.0-litre petrol V8 worth 309kW and 550Nm, with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.7secs.
But if the owner wanted more zest, M&D Exclusive Cardesign will do a little fettling.
The German tuning house has a new kit, the PD700R, not unlike what Walkinshaw offers for Commodore owners with the likes of the W407.
The upgrades start with new turbochargers, a free-flowing exhaust system and high-flow cats, re-mapped fuelling, ECU and a cold air intake. The result bumps the 309kW/550Nm to a claimed 515kW/950Nm, which is (significantly) more mumbo than the RS7.
The tweaks don't end there.
The body work of the PD700R comes from Prior Design and includes a new front fascia with lip spoiler and larger air dams, while the back end gets a bolder rear diffuser.
But the real head-turning aesthetics are the pumped wheel arches bridged by new side skirts, giving the German bahn-stormer a tough street-racer image.
This particular car also has a special decal/sticker pack that pays homage to Audi's motorsport vehicles, and a set of big 21-inch alloy finish off the design.
What would you choose – a new Audi RS7 or this beast from M&D? Stickers are optional... Feel free to leave a comment below.
