Subaru has announced pricing for its Impreza range-topper, the WRX STI. And it has used a two-model strategy to keep the performance flagship under the $60,000 mark.
The pricing of the new model was announced today as the STI made its Australian motor show debut in Brisbane. The model was unveiled internationally at last October's Tokyo Motor Show where Subaru Oz boss Nick Senior predicted the car would sell for around $65K Down Under (more here).
Officially in dealers later this month (in fact some Subaru dealers already have models in stock), the WRX STI is priced from $59,990. The range-topping WRX STI spec.R meantime will be priced from $64,990.
This is the first time Subaru has offered two versions of the STI in showroom, according to Subaru Australia. The spec.R version is unchanged mechanically from the standard STI (read our international launch review here) but adds lightweight BBS alloy wheels, Recaro seats and trim upgrades to the standard spec.
Look out for The Carsales Network's local launch review of the Impreza WRX STI and STI spec.R soon.
