Providing a glimpse of the future without a homegrown ute, GM Holden has borrowed the Storm moniker from its Commodore-based load-lugger for a special-edition version of its Thai-built Colorado one-tonner.
Positioned between the mid-range LTZ and the top-shelf Z71, the limited-edition Colorado Storm is currently being advertised on Holden’s public website for $51,990 drive-away in both six-speed manual and automatic form until October 31, including a seven-year warranty.
At $1500 more than the LTZ manual’s list price ($49,490 plus on-road costs, or $49,990 drive-away in October), that makes the dual-cab 4x4 pick-up a relative bargain – at least until the end of this month, when pricing reverts to $52,490 for the manual and $54,690 for the automatic (plus ORCs).
Additional equipment over the LTZ includes an integrated nudge bar, leather seat trim, heated front seats and a bonnet protector.
There are no changes to the Colorado’s buxom 147kW/500Nm 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel or selectable four-wheel drive system.
