Strong safety suite for new Holden Acadia
Preliminary specs released for Holden’s upcoming seven-seat SUVA healthy list of standard safety features has been announced for the upcoming Holden Acadia, the new seven-seat SUV to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
We already knew Holden’s long-awaited Captiva replacement – and its direct rival for the Toyota Kluger – will be powered exclusively by a 3.6-litre petrol V6 matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel drive configurations will be available depending on model grade.
Now Holden has announced that all versions of the Tennessee-built large SUV will be fitted with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and bicycle detection, Forward Collision Alert with Head-Up Warning, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Automatic High Beam Assist, Safety Seat Alert, Rear Parking Assist, reversing camera and seven airbags.
In a first for Holden, the new Acadia will also come with Intelligent Speed Assist with Traffic Sign Recognition, which along with Active Trailer Assist has been the subject of extensive local testing by Holden engineers.
Other standard Acadia features confirmed by Holden today include keyless access and push-button start, 8.0-inch colour display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio system, three-zone automatic climate control, USB ports for all three rows, satellite-navigation, LED tail-lights, daytime running lights and a dual-panel sunroof.
Front-drive models will come with Normal (2x4), Snow, Sport and Trailer/Tow modes, while AWD models will offer 2x4 (AWD disconnect), 4x4, Sport, Off Road and Trailer/Tow modes.
The Acadia chassis features MacPherson strut front suspension, five-link rear suspension, rack-mounted electric power steering system and four-wheel disc brakes.
The Acadia’s rear two rows of seats can be folded flat for maximum cargo capacity, while the centre row offers slide adjustment.
