Subaru has released a teaser pic of what appears to be a sleek two-door coupe-crossover ahead of the Subaru VIZIV Adrenaline Concept’s world debut at the Geneva motor show on March 5.
Raising more questions than answers, no information was provided alongside the intriguing image of what will be the seventh in a series of VIZIV-branded show cars, which started at the 2013 Geneva show and has included crossover, hybrid, performance, seven-seat and tourer concepts.
This leads us to speculate that the Subaru VIZIV Adrenaline Concept is designed to preview either an ground-breaking additional model for Subaru in the same vein as the Mazda ‘CX-4’ concept that will debut at the same show, or a heavily stylized version of the next Subaru Outback.
The latter is more likely given the recent news that the next-generation Subaru Outback will be revealed this year, although it would revert to its five-door wagon body style and be far less adventurous than the concept you see here.
Of course, the next Subaru Outback will be based on the new-generation Liberty revealed earlier this month and is therefore next in line for release from the Japanese brand.
Unlike the latest Liberty, which is yet to be confirmed for Australia’s shrinking mid-size passenger car market, the Outback has long been a stronger seller here and its replacement will almost certainly be offered Down Under, where the original Outback was one of the pioneering crossover wagons.
So we wait with baited breath for the Geneva show, where Subaru has already confirmed it will also debut two models – likely to be the Forester and XV – powered by its new e-BOXER hybrid powertrain technology.
