Subaru rolls out limited edition WRX

Another Club Spec edition of the Subaru WRX is arriving in local showrooms, offering more equipment but priced at $41,490 — just $1500 above the standard car. It's the first time the importer's 'Club Spec' badging has graced the wide-body WRX since its introduction late in 2010.

“WRX continues to have tremendous appeal in its widebody form and combined with the retained value traditionally achieved by these limited editions, there’s likely to be a lot of interest in these cars, which can be differentiated even further from standard WRX with the addition of the STI kit,” said Subaru Australia MD Nick Senior, as quoted in a press release for the new car.

In keeping with other Club Spec models from the past, the new car is a sedan with manual transmission only. The extra equipment over the standard WRX specification runs to leather trim, 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black, a black STI spoiler, black mirrors and exclusive badging inside and out. Those models finished in Tangerine (the colour pictured), will feature orange stitching for the WRX logos on the front seats. Externally, the garnish on the front quarter panels is black in lieu of the silver garnish fitted to the standard cars.

Subaru is also offering the Club Spec cars with an STI kit for $1000 — a saving of $1100. The kit comprises: front lip spoiler, short-throw gear lever and flexible strut tower bar.
