Subaru shortens the wait for BRZ
Queue for popular sports car reduced after factory digs up another 140 units for Aussie customersSubaru has announced the factory building the BRZ sports car at Gunma in Japan will allocate another 140 vehicles for the Australian market.
The additional numbers are scheduled for production in February and March of 2013, meaning those customers for the BRZ after May can expect to see their cars arrive sooner.
“We’re delighted that Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) has recognized the enormous demand for BRZ in Australia and allocated additional production,” said Nick Senior, Subaru Australia MD, in a statement released yesterday.
Prior to the announcement, the order bank for the car, which is also badged and sold in this country as the Toyota 86, extended through to November of next year. Both the BRZ and the 86 have been victims of their own success; neither Subaru nor Toyota have been able to find sufficient supply to meet the demand for their respective cars here or abroad. Subaru Australia was initially allocated just 201 units for the local market – and all were sold on-line

Those Subaru customers who have already placed an order for the BRZ, but haven't received their car yet, can monitor the production and shipping of the car on-line. The importer will also be contacting customers individually to keep them up to date.
