Subaru has locked in a November 17 debut for its 2023 Subaru Solterra, with the covers now confirmed to officially come off the all-electric SUV at the Los Angeles auto show next week.
Timed down to the minute, the milestone reveal will happen at 10:45am local time (11:45pm AEDT) and will be livestreamed around the world via the Subaru America website.
Very few details have so far been revealed about the Subaru Solterra, which was developed in tandem with the Toyota bZ4X, but Subaru has confirmed its first EV will come with symmetrical all-wheel drive, pointing to a dual-motor drivetrain.
Accompanying the reveal confirmation was a fresh teaser image taken from the side, showing the front left corner of the car and hammering home the Solterra’s more adventure-minded theme by means of rugged wheel-arch cladding in place of the bZ4X’s more conventional coloured panelling.
However, there is no update on the Solterra’s chances of being released Down Under. Subaru Australia previously said there were no current plans to offer the brand’s inaugural EV in our market, but that discussions with the factory continue.
carsales has contacted Subaru Australia for comment. Given its 2023 designation, we expect the Solterra to enter the US, Canadian, Chinese, European and Japanese markets in the second half of next year, which coincidently is when the Toyota bZ4X is due on sale here.
