Is the digital world beginning to influence the real world in terms of car design? Will gamers one day be able to test drive new cars, then buy them there and then online, mid-game, and have the car delivered to their houses?
Well, we're not sure about that last one, but the Sony Playstation 3 racing game, Gran Turismo 6, has become a very popular place for car-makers to debut their latest concept cars.
Subaru is the latest manufacturer to tease its dream car project, following in the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz.
One teaser image of the Subaru GT Vision concept has been revealed, showing off a long, low, sleek design tailored for high-speed track work.
The car's design appears to be part BRZ, part shooting brake, and could hint at Subaru's development of the Cross Sport wagon concept, which was revealed at the 2013 Tokyo motor show in November.
Subaru's track-attack GT Vision concept will be made available for download in early 2014, joining the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision GT concept.
The Merc has also been built as a full-sized concept car, powered by a V8 turbo engine worth 430kW/800Nm, and may provide a preview of its SLS AMG successor.
Along with the Merc, other concepts already available to play in the Gran Turismo 6 game include the Citroen GT and the Red Bull Racing X2014. Toyota also has plans to reveal a new concept which could have real-world ramifications, and even shoe-maker Nike will release a digital car soon.
