Subaru has continued its MY06 limited edition model blitz with the announcement this week of two more special models. The Liberty 3.0R-based Blitzen was unveiled at last week's Melbourne Motor Show opening and arrives mid-year, while the Impreza 2.0i Luxury is already in dealers.
The Blitzen (German word for lightning) uses styling tweaks from the Japanese-market Legacy Blitzen. In its local guise, the model combines the mechanicals of the existing Liberty 3.0R spec B with body and interior changes. A total of 200 wagon and sedan models will be offered in a choice of automatic and manual versions.
Subaru says the Liberty Blitzen's sports credentials are "highlighted by wider bumpers, flared sills and the honeycomb grille."
The 18-inch alloy wheels fitted are unique to the model.
Liberty Blitzen is expected to be available in June 2006. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
Meanwhile, the company has launched a 600-unit special edition Impreza 2.0i Luxury which it claims offers $6300 of extra value for a price premium of $2000 above entry level Impreza 2.0i.
Available in white, regal blue and silver, the $25,990 Impreza 2.0i Luxury is offered in both sedan and wagon versions. The Luxury pack adds leather trim, 15-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof and rear tinted windows (sedan only) to the standard specification.
