Subtle facelift for Skoda Octavia

It's not even here yet, but the Golf-based Skoda is getting a nip and tuck

Volkswagen has already given us the heads-up on the local launch of the Skoda marque (more here).

It's all happening later this year and the first two cars confirmed to be going on sale are the quirky Roomster and the Octavia sedan.

About the time Skoda opens in Australia, the revised Octavia -- seen in these pictures from the all-knowing, all-seeing Carparazzi bods -- is likely to make a debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

It looks like a Passat, but the Octavia is a whole size smaller and features the floorpan and transverse engine layout of the Golf. The vehicle in question was spotted during brake testing in Austria and the changes fall into the category of 'blink and miss it'. Principally, the front bumper and air intakes for engine cooling have been restyled.

According to Matthew Wiesner, General Manager Press and PR for Volkswagen Group Australia, locally delivered Octavias will be the pre-facelift model initially and the facelift will be due late in 2008 as a 2009 model.
