
For a very low volume manufacturer, Ferrari certainly enticed a lot of owners to put the finishing touches on the company's sixtieth anniversary year.
A celebration held at Maranello last weekend concluded the final leg of a baton relay which had wound its way through 42 countries; the baton carried over the route by 10,000 Ferrari owners.
Over 1000 Ferraris turned up at Maranello to take part in the proceedings. For the four days prior, Ferrari owners were offered the chance to drive their cars around the Fiorano test track.
Famous drivers were there, driving iconic cars. Names like Scheckter, Berger, Alesi, Arnoux and Schumacher. Current Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa took a lead role in a 125S sports car (pictured). Massa held the baton as Raikkonen drove at the head of the parade.
A 1954 375 MM was judged 'Best of Show' in the concours on Sunday and a 1967 330 P4 won 'Racing Best of Show'. The latter car won the 24-hour race at Daytona in 1967.
Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo and CEO, Jean Todt, were on hand for the prize-giving.
A charity auction held on the Saturday night raised 220,000 Euro for paediatric clinics in Bologna and Modena.
