Super Cheap Auto confirms Supercar line-up

Longtime battler Cameron McConville has signed a multi-year agreement with the Super Cheap Auto Racing Team, which finished ahead of Team Perkins and Ford Performance Racing in last year's V8 Supercar season.

McConville will partner four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy in Super Cheap Auto Racing's (SCAR) assault on the 2006 V8 Supercar Championship in a pair of identical Holden Commodores.

McConville moves from Garry Rogers Motorsport and replaces Paul Weel who has retired to concentrate on his quickly expanding PWR business empire, which includes the Super Cheap Auto Racing team.

Weel, who finished last year's supercar season placed 22nd on 1000 points, stepped aside for McConville. "When I decided to retire to concentrate purely on business, we set a goal of securing a driver who met our requirements and would help the team grow. Cameron McConville fitted the bill perfectly; he is a quality, high-calibre driver with a proven, race-winning record and we were happy that he was available," he said.

"Cameron adds another dimension to our team and he will provide Murph [Greg Murphy] with healthy competition, while both drivers will help us achieve our goal of stepping up a notch and reaching the next level of competitiveness."

McConville will make his debut with the #50 Super Cheap Auto Racing Holden Commodore VZ at the first round of the 2006 V8 Supercar Series, the Clipsal 500, in Adelaide on 23-26 March.
