Super-exclusive BMW X5 M, X6 M models coming

Just four First Edition X5 M and X6 M Competition variants to arrive Down Under

A highly exclusive run of the BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition performance SUVs is on its way to Australia, with less than a handful of just-announced ‘First Edition’ variants allotted to this market.

From a global production run of only 250 across each model line, just four examples of the BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition First Edition – split evenly across the pair – will be sold in Australia.

Available to secure now via BMW’s online purchasing platform, BMW Shop, the First Edition variants are based on the M division’s latest high-performance large luxury SUVs  that were launched here earlier this year priced from $209,900 plus on-road costs for the wagon and $213,900 for the sloped-back version.

There is no word yet on pricing for the special-editions, which are due to touch down in the first quarter of next year carrying a range of exclusive interior and exterior styling additions, but they are expected to start north of the ‘regular’ models.

On the outside, the First Edition treatment includes a matte Frozen Dark Silver paint scheme – or a Marina Bay Blue special paint finish, where specified – along with exclusive black M light alloy wheels in a star-spoke design (21-inch up front, 22 at the rear).

Other special touches include carbon-fibre mirror caps, an M carbon engine compartment cover and, on the X6 M Competition, an M carbon rear spoiler.

In the cabin, the Merino leather interior is finished in a mix of Silverstone and Midnight Blue, with black Alcantara bolster inserts and orange contrast stitching.

The Alcantara headliner is trimmed in Midnight Blue to match the leather-bound instrument panel.

Powered by the same thumping 4.4-litre biturbo V8 engine, both the X5 M and X6 M Competition pump out a whopping 460kW of power and 750Nm of torque, which is enough to launch them from zero to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
