Survey highlights worst driving habits

An online survey has revealed much about the way we drive. Car-buying consultant, Private Fleet, has conducted a survey of 2500 respondents, to arrive at a series of conclusions concerning the Australian motoring environment.

If you take such surveys as gospel, it appears that male drivers are consistently worse than females, other than in the area of message texting while on the move.

Whilst the survey sheds no new light on some aspects of driving (males worse than females, for instance), some curious factoids were thrown up.

According to the survey, Holdens are driven by the country's worst drivers and Mazdas are driven by the country's best drivers -- and that latter group tends to include females aged between 41 and 60, living in Queensland. The survey cites male P-Platers living in NSW as the very worst drivers of all.

As many as 42 per cent of BMW drivers admit to driving under the influence of the demon drink, but they are less likely to drive and text messages at the same time. Those two, by analogy, suggest that the majority of BMW drivers are male.

The driver conduct spectrum is booked-ended by South Australia (worst) and the ACT (best). 50 per cent of Tasmanian drivers admit to exceeding the speed limit by 30km/h or more, whereas just 39 per cent of those living in a certain police state (we know who we are), admit the same.
