Suzuki Jimny 3-Door automatic back on sale

But wait times for the two-pedal compact 4x4 are still well over six months

Order books for the immensely popular Suzuki Jimny 3-Door automatic have been reopened following confirmation from Suzuki Australia that it has secured additional “production opportunities” in 2024.

Delivery wait times on new orders for the Jimny 3-Door auto still stretch well into the second half of 2024 (so more than six months), but the news is still a step in the right direction for those longing to own the pint-size off-roader and manual versions remain freely available.

Today’s announcement follows on from the September release of a limited 500-unit batch of 3-Door automatics following a major reduction in the number of unfilled orders.

“Whilst back orders are still reaching as far as the second half of 2024, we have managed to secure incremental volume that will allow us to flick the switch back on for the auto transmission in Jimny,” Suzuki Australia general manager Michael Pachota said today.

“This ties in perfectly with the exciting launch of Jimny XL today to complete our total product offering of the Suzuki Jimny for Australia in 2024.”

Excluding that relief-giving blip in September, Jimny 3-Door automatic orders had been closed for almost 11 months as Suzuki Australia struggled to keep up with demand, pushing wait times out to 18 months for new orders.
