Suzuki mid-sizer breaks cover

The Suzuki Kizashi has been leaked a day early and will be coming to Oz in 2010

Suzuki's new mid-sized sedan has broken cover a day ahead of its official unveiling, showing off a clean design that will set it apart from the crowd.

First seen in concept form at the 2008 New York auto show in the United States, the Kizashi is set to take Suzuki upmarket and possibly grow the company's presence in several important countries, including Australia. The brand-boosting process has already begun locally, with vehicles such as the Swift and just-released Alto lending a hand.

Andrew Ellis, the Communications Manager for Suzuki Australia, told the Carsales Network that the Kizashi will be coming to Australia in the first half of 2010.

The Japanese-made Kizashi will compete against compatriots such as the Mazda6 and Honda Accord Euro. When quizzed about pricing, Mr Ellis stated that "It will be competitive," adding that Suzukis always compete strongly on price and the Kizashi will be no different.

So expect a starting price of around $30,000, possibly even lower.

The new mid-sized Kizashi model has the potential to give the Suzuki brand a big lift, particularly as it appears to be angling for a premium image, evidenced in the upmarket design of the large chromed alloy wheels.

Stay tuned to the Carsales Network for more details on the Kizashi.
