Suzuki’s S-Cross small SUV will literally receive a boost when an update launches in Australia on November 22.
The entire range will abandon the current naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine in exchange for the 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol already doing service in the Vitara S-Turbo.
The 102kW/220Nm four-cylinder will provide a worthy performance increase compared to the 86kW/156Nm engine that has been the sole choice in the Australian range since its December 2013 launch.
Adding further pep will be a six-speed automatic, replacing the continuously variable transmission that's now standard across most S-Cross models.
Externally the updated S-Cross is given away by a distinctive new vertical grille, clamshell bonnet, protruding headlights, chunky bumper and revised tail-lights.
No pricing or equipment details have as yet been revealed for the S-Cross, which is currently priced between $22,990 and $34,990.
However, at the European launch prior to its Paris motor show debut, the revised S-Cross featured Suzuki’s latest infotainment system including a 7.0-inch colour touch-screen and updated seat trims.
The S-Cross will arrive amid a concerted update of Suzuki’s Australian range. The Baleno mini-car launched last August, the all-new Ignis mini-SUV is expected in January and a redesigned Swift hatch is due to appear later in 2017.
