Facelifted Suzuki Vitara makes debut
Fourth-gen small SUV goes under the knife for mid-life refresh; gets exterior tweaks, updated interior, full range of turbo-petrol enginesSuzuki has revealed the facelifted Vitara that's due on sale in Australia in the first quarter of next year.
The subtle refresh of the Suzuki Vitara's exterior styling includes redesigned headlights, a new front bumper and revised grille. At the rear the changes are also subtle, with the 2019 Vitara adopting a pair of new tail-lights.
Inside, the Japanese car-maker claims higher-grade materials have been used on the dash, while the instrument panel now incorporates a colour screen sandwiched between the clusters.
Under the bonnet, in European markets at least, the old 86kW 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine has been dropped due to emissions, and replaced by the cleaner and more efficient turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol engine from the Swift.
In the Vitara it produces 81kW and is available with both front- and all-wheel drive.
The more powerful 103kW/220Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four carries over unchanged.
Safety equipment also improves, for Euro markets at least, with range-topping model grades now coming equipped with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and rear cross traffic alert.
In Europe a small price rise is anticipated when deliveries begin around September.
