Suzuki Swift, Wagon R recall

Suzuki recalls cars over airbag systems

Suzuki Japan is recalling 119,718 cars across five models because of faulty airbag systems.

Subject to recall are Swift, Wagon R, Solio, Cruise and MW models produced between March 2003 and September this year, the Japanese automaker said in a statement.

The airbag for the front passenger seat may not work properly, Suzuki said.

According to a Suzuki Australia, the recall affects 3045 Ignis hatches built between March 2003 and October 2004.

Suzuki Australia is currently in the process of directly notifying owners affected by the problem and urges customers to contact their nearest Authorised Suzuki Dealer after receiving their proper recall notification advice.

"This recent problem is regrettable, but we hope that this quick and comprehensive action reaffirms to customers, Suzuki's commitment to their satisfaction in the high levels of quality inherent in Suzuki products," Suzuki Australia, Managing Director, Mr Takeshi Hayasaki said.

Owners of the Ignis, are asked to contact Suzuki Australia's CustomerCare Division, tel 1-800-777-088 or by e-mail at safety@suzuki.com.au should they have any concerns.

Local examples of the maker's top-selling Swift are not affected.
