Suzuki teases Kizashi and Swift specials

Karbon Kizashi and Swift Super Sport revealed in Queensland – and could go national

Suzuki has revealed sporty new special-edition versions of its Kizashi and Swift in Queensland, both of which are likely to become available nationally soon.

The Japanese brand’s independent state distributor says its pair of stylised models – a carbon-fibre accented Kizashi and an interpretation of the Suzuki Swift Super Sport that took out the Junior World Rally Championship in 2007 and 2010 – are aimed at inspiring further creative design thinking throughout its dealer network.

For now, Queensland Suzuki’s more sporting Kizashi and Swift models remain ‘concepts’, but Suzuki Australia told motoring.com.au it plans to release similar limited-edition models soon.

Matched with a set of black chrome Advanti wheels, the Karbon Kizashi features carbon-look appliqués on its roof, wing mirrors, lower door garnishes and rear boot lip spoiler, and around its foglights and twin exhaust outlets.

The Swift Super Sport, meantime, is a road-going five-door hatchback based on Suzuki’s new Swift Sport and inspired by the three-door Swift driven to victory in the JWRC by Per-Gunnar Andersson and Aaron Burkhart.

It features a sports exhaust system, tinted glass, custom white wheels and similar race colours and sponsorship stickers to the Swifts that gave Suzuki its third world rally title (Andersson also claimed a JWRC victory in a Suzuki Ignis in 2004).

“The objective is to get dealership staff and potential purchasers thinking creatively about how the Suzuki Swift and Kizashi can take on a very different appearance by the cost-effective addition of highlights,” said Suzuki Auto Co General Manager, Mr Adam Le Fevre.

“The Swift is renowned for attracting stripes and personalised number plates – giving one the full race presentation treatment on its championship yellow colour base takes it several steps further.

“We are touring both vehicles around dealerships and inviting comment and further ideas from the public as well as from dealership staff. We’ll take their responses back to the drawing board with the intention of being able to offer a keenly priced graphics package that will be available at retail level.”
