Toyota and Suzuki have inked a new partnership that will see Toyota produce Suzuki-badged hybrids based on the current RAV4 and Corolla wagon.
In a new deal that's claimed to outline wide-ranging ways in how the two Japanese car-makers will work together in the future, Toyota has announced that it has agreed to supply hybrid powertrains to Suzuki at a global level.
Suzuki will also benefit from two new hybrid models based on both the RAV4 and Corolla wagon sold in Europe.
On sale towards the end of 2020, the new cars will be added to Suzuki's current line-up and not replace any current models.
It's not known if the re-branded Corolla and RAV4 will come with significant sheet-metal changes or if they will simply be rebadged.

It's also unclear if the Suzuki-fied hatch and SUV are destined for global markets like Australia or if they will be sold in Europe or emerging markets.
As part of the new deal, Toyota says it will work in cooperation with Suzuki to develop new hybrid vehicles for the Indian market.
Suzuki will also supply Toyota with two small hatches based on its Ciaz and Ertiga for both India and Africa.
The two will also develop a new Corolla-sized SUV for India.
Following the deal's announcement, Toyota boss Akio Toyoda said: “We believe that the expansion of our business partnership with Suzuki -- from the mutual supply of vehicles and powertrains to the domains of development and production -- will help give us the competitive edge we need to survive this once-in-a-century period of profound transformation".
