SVZ bids adieu to ute and wagon
Holden will sign off its VZ Commodore with special editions of the ute and wagonHolden will bid farewell to the last of its VZ range of Commodores in the coming months. And to ease the passing of the range, it has announced special edition SVZ Ute and Wagon models.
The VE Commodore replaced the sedan range late in 2006, however, Holden has continued to produce both the ute and wagon versions of the outdated model.
The new VE-based ute is expected to surface in August of this year but at this stage, the wagon is not expected until 2008. With both VZ variants to be pushed off the Elizabeth line in the very near future to make way for added export orders of VE and WM, in the interim, it's likely Holden will channel potential wagon buyers into its SUV, and perhaps LCV, models such as Captiva and Rodeo.
The SVZ Ute and Wagon on offer now feature extra equipment and some unique features. They are offered to private buyers only, Holden says.
The ute gets a version of Holden's High Output Alloytec V6 engine which produces peak power of 190kW at 6500rpm (automatic transmission) and peak power of 187kW at 6000rpm (manual transmission) and 335Nm of peak torque at 3200rpm.
It's priced at $29,990 for the manual version. The auto is $1000 more.
Also included in the standard specification are: CVS-R Monaro-sourced 18-inch alloys (with full size alloy spare); 'Performance' brake package with red painted brake calipers; leather seats and door trims with SVZ logos; and exterior SVZ badging.
The Commodore SVZ Wagon is priced from $32,490 and powered by the 172kW version of the Alloytec V6. It is available in auto only.
It gets 17-inch alloys (steel spare); fog lamps and sports fascia, upgraded suspension, chrome exhaust extension, body-coloured mirror scalps, black bezel headlamps, body colour rear wind deflector and roof rails/rack and SVZ badging. Inside the SVZ wagon gets Anthracite cloth trim, upgraded audio and power windows.
Both the ute and wagon offer special paint options (including metallics) at extra cost and are available at Holden dealers now.
