The upcoming all-new 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been officially teased in a new promotional video ahead of the sleek battery-electric sedan’s unveiling and subsequent launch in Australia late in the final quarter or early next year.
The 35-second promo clip was uploaded to the HyundaiWorldWide YouTube channel and is dedicated solely to hyping up the sedan’s swoopy silhouette through a series of close-range pans showcasing the flowing lines of day-to-day items like chairs, classic motorcycles, clouds, sculptures and even a building.
“Have you heard of Streamliner?” the video description reads.
“IONIQ 6, the new streamliner in the EV era with the simple yet sensuous streamlined design, is coming.
“Let the story of the new era with IONIQ 6 begin.”
Despite Hyundai’s hype, we’ve already had a good look at how the IONIQ 6 has been progressing in the final stages of development, thanks to a plentiful supply of spy images.
The most recent batch showed the prototype vehicle wearing N-spec, or at the very least, N-Line alloy wheels.
However, the key element of the IONIQ 6 design is its swooping silhouette, which was first previewed with the 2020 Hyundai Prophecy concept.
The gently curving lines are a stark contrast to the boxy and chiselled look of the Hyundai IONIQ 5, but ultimately complement the unstated but sinister-looking Hyundai Sonata N-Line.
A local spokesperson revealed that while expressions of interest for the IONIQ 6 hadn’t opened yet, Hyundai Australia is expecting to be inundated with enquiries, pre-orders and orders once the car is revealed, with demand tipped to mimic that of the IONIQ 5.
