Hot Wheels will recreate the favourite stunt of eight-year olds all over the world at next month's Indianapolis 500 when it joins lengths of track to the top of door to create the longest possible jump – except with a real car and a real door.
Team Hot Wheels, a newly created group of extreme sports enthusiats and stuntmen, are preparing to replicate the childhood stunt using a 33 metre high door that leads to a giant ramp that, if all goes to plan, will culminate in the world's longest jump.
The team calculate the distance leapt will exceed 92 metres, using an offorad truck and replica Hot Wheels V-Drop track.
In addition to breaking the world record for distance jumping, the crew at Team Hot Wheels also hope to recapture the imagination of grownups who have fond memeories of Hot Wheels cars, hopefully tapping into the cashed-up collector market.
A teaser video from Team Hot Wheels is posted here with the real jump set to take place on May 29.
