Lexus Australia’s range-wide tech upgrade is now being applied to the flagship Lexus LS limousine, the first MY23 examples of which are now trickling into local showrooms.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Lexus Connected Services are both included as part of the tech upgrade, as is the brand’s latest infotainment system (still spanning 12.3 inches), a redesigned centre console and ‘Hey Lexus’ voice recognition.
The upgrades have inevitably increased Lexus LS asking prices, with the range now kicking off from $195,920 plus on-road costs for the entry-level LS 500 F Sport (+$899).
A similar increase has been applied to the Sports Luxury version, but prices for the hybrid-powered LS 500h twins have gone up by more than $3440 with no real explanation as to why.
No changes have been made to either of the powertrains, but the addition of the Connected Services suite does bring a multitude of new remote access and monitoring features, not to mention cloud-based sat-nav with live traffic, weather, parking and map updates, location searching, and first- and last-mile routing.
The other key spec upgrade is the addition of a new underbody view for the 360-degree camera.
Car-spotters will be able to identify the 2023 Lexus LS by the absence of a rear Lexus badge, while the hybrids will also lose their lower rear door badging, their ‘LS 500h’ rear branding and the blue hue around their remaining hybrid logos.
“These subtle but significant enhancements to the LS 500 and LS 500h follow a comprehensive update in February 2021, and culminate to ensure the flagship Lexus sedans maintain their position as leaders in full-size rear-drive luxury,” said the premium Japanese auto brand.
