Tesla has announced an end to sales of the Model S 60 and 60D variants.
In a press release issued late last week the importer revealed that most local buyers are opting for the 75kWh models instead. The rear-wheel drive Model S 60 is currently listed at $108,700 and the all-wheel drive 'Dual motor' 60D is priced at $116,300.
At $118,600 the Model S 75 is nearly $10,000 more expensive, which is true also of the Model S 75D – at $126,200.
The 60 and 60D variants have been on sale less than 12 months and the lack of interest in the base models has prompted Tesla to simplify its product range in Australia by dropping the 60kWh models. However, they will remain available to order until April 16, and owners can upgrade the battery to 75kWh with an 'over the air' update.
