Tesla Cyberquad launched
Cute battery-powered quad bike has a decent range of up to 24km but costs $2700In the absence of the Tesla Cybertruck, the US electric car-maker has launched the Tesla Cyberquad – a pure-electric ATV for kids with a 16km/h top speed, 24km driving range and a hefty $US1900 ($A2700) price tag.
Introduced ahead of the Christmas holidays, early reports suggest the first batch of Cyberquads sold out just days after going on sale.
Claimed to have been designed to fit in the bed of the much-delayed Tesla Cybertruck that may not be seen in Australia before 2025, the Cyberquad has been developed in partnership with American toy company Radio Flyer, which is most famous for its red trikes, wagons and bicycles.
Marking the second time Tesla and Red Flyer have teamed up after the US toy giant produced a ride-on Tesla Model S back in 2016, the Cyberquad ATV has a cushioned saddle, adjustable suspension and a rear disc brake.
Powered by a removeable 36-volt lithium-ion battery pack, the little quad bike has an impressive 24km range (for a toy) and can be detuned to have a top speed of 8km/h for younger users.
A full top-up for the Cyberquad using a household plug socket is said to take around five hours.
Developed for kids aged eight and up, the Tesla quad is capable of being ridden by riders up to 68kg in weight and pays homage to the Cybertruck with its angular shape
