Tesla Model 3 line-up expands to three
US EV-maker shuffles model range and pricing for its smallest and cheapest sedan before launch next monthA ‘Long Range’ version of the Tesla Model 3 is now available to order in Australia, where the ground-breaking mid-size electric sedan finally arrives next month – three years after first deposits were taken from Aussie early-adopters.
Claimed to offer 620km of driving range between recharges, the Model 3 Long Range will sit in the middle of the three-tier EV range, priced from $85,000 before on-road costs.
The starting price of the Model 3 remains unchanged at $66,000 (plus ORCs), for the entry-level Standard Range Plus (460km range), as announced in May.
However, the flagship all-wheel drive Model 3 Performance (560km range), first examples of which will also arrive Down Under in August, is now priced $6200 higher at $91,200 plus ORCs before first deliveries even take place.
The price hike follows the fitment of a previously available option package as standard, adding 20-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, lowered suspension, alloy pedals, a carbon-fibre boot spoiler and access to a track driving mode.
The entry-level rear-wheel drive Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, 12-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats and two smartphone docks, plus heated and power-folding exterior mirrors.
A ‘Full Self-Driving Capability’ upgrade is also available for an extra $8500 and all variants have been awarded a maximum five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP.
