Tesla's looking for love

EV-maker opens 'Project Loveday' ad contest inspired by child’s letter

Tesla is known for steering away from traditional modes of advertising and often looks to its fans for inspiration. And it’s done so again…

Ten year old Tesla fan Bria Loveday wrote to the car-maker and suggested it run a contest looking for the best ad. Founder and CEO Elon Musk responded via Twitter promising to implement the idea and Project Loveday was born.

The video-based contest asks fans to shoot a 90sec video that relates to “Tesla, SolarCity, our products, or our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy”. They then submit the work via YouTube link to Tesla for consideration.

The contest is open until May 8 and Tesla says ten winners will be chosen based on originality, creativity and, of course, relevance to Tesla’s mission.

The lucky Grand Prize winner will score a trip to an unspecified Tesla Product launch, with travel expenses and accommodation for two people included. Winners will be announced via the company’s social media channels on May 22.

So, are you going to try to claim your 90sec of fame?
