A huge hit with a steady stream of games, animated television series’, movies and apps, Pokemon has cemented itself into modern pop-culture.
So to celebrate this wondrous occasion we asked our resident (self-proclaimed) carsales Pokémon master on what car you should choose (consider) based on your favourite Pokémon.
A Mitsubishi Mirage just like a Jigglypuff is a small, round, pink car that is great to sing in (even if you’re not that good) without the worry of falling asleep and getting drawn on.
The Bugatti Chiron is the Mewtwo of the car world as they’re both incredibly powerful, have a sleek design and very rarely will you ever see a Chiron being beaten. Thankfully you won’t need to beat the Elite Four and travel to Cerulean Cave to get one, it’s only roughly $4 million AUD to get a Chiron.
They may not look anything alike but if you’ve ever been on the road you’ll know just like a Pidgey, Toyota Corollas are absolutely everywhere!
Not a car or Pokémon you really want to get in the way of. A Grand Cherokee like a Charizard is big, rugged and looks great in red but also can be a little unreliable. Most true Pokémon fans still can’t get over the haunting scene when Charizard refused to battle in the latter stages of the Pokémon League. Thankfully you do get roadside assist and extended warranty with the Jeep.
Beyond the obvious electricity links, a Pikachu and a Prius are both small, cute and are equally out to save the world in their own way.
Both extremely fast and used to win races, Rapidash is essentially the Ferrari prancing horse badge (minus the flames of this fire-type Pokémon). Who can forget that epic episode where Ash’s Ponyta evolves into Rapidash during a race?!
Not only do they actually look similar but both are good without being great, and with so many other options out there to choose from, you would probably prefer something else with a little less sting.
If you've ever seen an old Ford Falcon on the road, nine times out of ten they’ve been thrashed around like a fish out of water similar to a Magikarp (until level 20 when it evolves into Gyrados or XR8).
We’ve never quite understood the shape of a Porygon or what it is meant to be and we feel the exact same way whenever a Nissan Cube drives past. Just strange!
One is cute, loveable and a favourite amongst the Pokémon community, the other is a Volkswagen Beetle which is equally as loved with fans around the globe. While their personality traits may not match, that big rounded beetle shape certainly looks like the shell of a Squirtle.
With cars it may not be possible to “catch em’ all” but hopefully as all great Pokémon trainers and drivers know, it’s about the journey not the destination.
