The Lacetti we won't get

These photos from Carparazzi are said to reveal the next generation Lacetti made in Korea by Daewoo but sold around the globe with a variety of manufacturer and model badges -- including Australia where, in its sedan form, it is labelled as a Holden Viva.

Elsewhere it could be a Chevrolet, a Buick, an Opel, a Suzuki -- or a Daewoo.

The disguised car is clearly a five-door hatch, but a sedan version has been spotted also.

The new model is expected to make its international debut, in hatch form, in 2010, with a sedan and wagon following in 2011.

The confusion begins when the forthcoming Holden Cruze, which is the same as the Chevrolet Cruze that is sourced from a global GM design forming the basis of the next generation Opel Astra and built, for us, in Korea, steps in.

To be imported initially from Daewoo in Korea, and then built locally at Holden's plant in Elizabeth, South Australia, the Cruze will replace the Daewoo Lacetti-based Holden Viva sedan and wagon.

The Lacetti was sold in sedan form in Australia from 2003 to 2004 before Daewoo withdrew from the local market to make way for the Holden Viva in 2005.
