The man-cave is dead, the Supercar Capsule is now

It’s definitely a garage. A garage we would love to have.

Luxury design firm Superfuturedesign (their spelling) says the Supercar Capsule is ‘a palette of unique ports that keep the automobile in a closed space, allowing owners’ supercars to emerge as if from a dedicated showroom.’

The luxury garage concept is a bespoke design service offered by the Dubai-based design firm, giving supercar-loving owners a new way to drop their hard-earned. If you’ve got a supercar it makes a lot of sense because folded wads of cash take up a lot of space and supercars are not known for their oddment storage.

If you've ever dreamed of having a car showroom in your house, either as a way of perusing the supercar or pretending to be a car sales person, well this is definitely the home accessory you've been waiting for.

Whether you’re transforming an existing room in your home or building a new stand-alone space (a.k.a. a garage), the custom built capsules design pivots around three client considerations, being ‘Seamless Incorporation, Subtle Enhancement, or the Center of Attraction’.  We’re tipping a heavy lean towards the latter.

Putting your most prized possessions on display and insisting your guests admire them is not new. Turning your expensive car into an at-home art installation is not really new either.

Killing the man-cave society. That’s new.

The team at carsales HQ are concerned about how the decision to open up the sacred garage to all visitors will go down with veteran man-cavers who - up until now - have been the arbiter of all garage-related matters.

What will become of the rules and rituals now? Who goes in, how long can you stay, food and beverage options, stocking the fridge, preferred footwear and the can/can’t touch zones.

This design-led tinkering with tradition has wide spread implications. Please share your thoughts with us.

Because, garage is life.
