One of the most iconic movie cars of all time could be set for a return. Announcing plans for a new instalment of the Mad Max franchise in Sydney this week director George Miller took the wraps off the Ford Falcon XB, more commonly known as the Supercharged Interceptor.
The black machine was joined by an equally wild-looking supercharged pick-up truck at the press conference for ‘Mad Max 4: Fury Road’. Exactly what role the world’s most famous XB Falcon will play in the new film remains unknown.
But the return of the Interceptor could imply the new film could be a prequel to the 1979 original. Miller is still in the process of casting the human cast members, with Australian Sam Worthington (from the most recent Terminator film) tipped for the leading role.
There has also been no word yet on if the original Road Warrior, Mel Gibson, will get back behind the wheel of the Interceptor (pictured).
It’s been a big week for automotive movies with the first photo from the new A-Team movie revealing that while Mr T. won’t be back, the famous black GMC van with the red strip will be.
