The search is on for this summer's ultimate Australian road trip
With Australians expected to pack their cars and see the beauty of Australia this summer, the biggest question is what's the best road trip destination?Dash Cam manufacturer Nextbase is again on the hunt for Australia’s most popular road trips for this summer. Twelve iconic road trips have been shortlisted as part of the competition which is asking Aussies to vote for their favourite, including the Grand Pacific Drive in New South Wales and heading to Cape York in Queensland.
This latest initiative follows on from last year’s competition where Victoria’s Great Ocean Road was crowned Australia’s favourite road trip.
Shortlisted summer road trips include:

- Great Alpine Road, VIC
- Tasmanian Ring Road, TAS
- Darwin to Katherine, NT
- Kangaroo Island, SA
- Adelaide to Coober Pedy, SA
- Cairns to Cape York, QLD
- Great Green Way, QLD
- Margaret River Coastline, WA
- Perth to Ningaloo, WA
To cast your vote for the best road trip destination head to the Nextbase website and you will also go into the draw to win one of five Nextbase Dash Cams’ Summer Road Trip prize packs, featuring a Nextbase 622GW, $500 fuel voucher and $500 Airbnb voucher. The competition closes on Friday, 18th November 2022 with the winning road trip destination revealed just in time to plan your own ultimate summer adventure.
Dash cams continue to increase in popularity with Australian car owners and according to Nextbase research, in 2021 one in ten Australian drivers were in a car accident, while 56 per cent reported concern with driving under changing conditions. 25 per cent of Aussie drivers have also admitted that they change their driving behaviour if they believe that they are being recorded behind the wheel, while 80 per cent have experienced road rage whilst behind the wheel.
