The prank day has been popular around the world since the 19th century but surprisingly little is known about the actual origins of this tradition. Perhaps a well-orchestrated prank in itself? The tradition goes that an April Fool’s Day joke is revealed by shouting “April fool!” at the recipient of the joke who becomes the “April fool” with all pranks and joking ending at midday.
The best-regarded April Fool’s Day joke was from 1957 when the BBC current-affairs show Panorama broadcast a hoax report of a Swiss family who harvested their spaghetti from a so-called “spaghetti tree”. It’s reported that hundreds of viewers phoned the station to question the authenticity of the story or to ask for more information about how they could grow their own spaghetti tree!
Here's the wrap-up of our favourite 2022 April Fool’s Day attempts from the car world.
Andersen EV claimed to have built the first-ever car charger which camouflages itself to the wall it’s mounted on. The camouflage technology was said to be high-definition 4k mini-screens built into the front and side panels of the A-2-I (Andersen-2-Invisible), which mimics the pattern of the wall behind it.
The wall box would cost customers £9,999. We're not sure what's more of the joke, the camouflage capability or the price!
