The world’s most popular cars on TikTok revealed
Social media app TikTok has exploded in popularity over the last couple of years as Gen Z, Millennials and even Baby Boomers get in on the dance battles, lip-syncing and meme-making.Amongst all of the viral dances and challenges that have taken the world by storm, thousands of car videos have also been uploaded to the app with car lovers and brands getting in on the fun. What even more impressive is the number of views these videos have racked up, into the billions! So what car brands and models are the most popular on TikTok?
According to new research from UK insurance company Uswitch.com, BMW is the most popular vehicle brand on TikTok while the Ford Mustang is the most popular model to make an appearance.
The research analysed the number of views on TikTok videos using hashtags mentioning each vehicle brand and model with all view counts correct as of 31 March 2021.

BMW is one of the biggest luxury car brands in the world, producing over 2.2 million vehicles a year, while also maintaining a strong presence in the motorsport world. They also look to be dominating the TikTok world too with an incredible 17.6 billion views on the app. The brand itself has also participated in the platform creating its own hashtag challenges to promote certain new vehicles.
Fellow German luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz comes in second place on the charts, although with only half the views of BMW. While motorbike maker KTM also makes the cut, coming in at number eight with 5.5 billion views on the platform.

Looking at the specific models that have received the most views on TikTok, there was a clear favourite with fans. With 3.9 billion views, the iconic Ford Mustang wins the crown of the most popular car model on the platform.
The Mustang is the longest-serving car in Ford’s lineup and has been a mainstay of the American brand since 1964 and is clearly still as popular today as it was back then, proving to be a hit on social media.
Other supercars proving to be fan favourites including Nissan GT-R, Toyota Supra and a Chevrolet Camaro rounded out the top four places.
