This year we had some record-breaking social media interest on the carsales and motoring Facebook pages. Facebook has been a key network in driving viral content and we had our first real taste of ‘viral immortality’ thanks to a Nissan Titan Truck concept video. So, it’s undeniable our fans love trucks. Big trucks.

In many cases, we were able to replicate the success of the carsales.com.au Facebook top viral posts onto the motoring.com.au Facebook page and visa versa.

The number one most viral post featured a video about the Holden Commodore prototype hosted by motoring.com.au’s Sam Charlwood. We asked fans if they will warm to the new Commodore and responses were mostly negative, but the video was shared far and wide.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class Ute concept video performed exceptionally well. The video drew fans in from the very first screen and inspired them to engage in banter about whether or not it’s a ute or a truck. The post racked up an impressive 503,537 in Viral Reach.
