Nissan-owned budget brand Datsun has released the first teaser image of a concept that will debut at the Tokyo motor show later this month.
This teaser image is light on detail, displaying only the car's headlight and foglight design, as well as a section of the radiator grille, which appears to mimic the design of existing Datsun models sold in emerging markets, including the pint-size GO hatchback and on-DO sedan.
Although no further details have been released, it is believed this concept could be based on the group’s CMF-A platform and share design cues with the Renault Kwid, a small SUV-inspired vehicle originally aimed at the Indian market.
The Datsun brand, perhaps best known in Australia for its 240Z sports car and 1600 sedan, was redeployed by Nissan as a cut-price brand targeted at developing global markets.
The 44th Tokyo show commences with a press preview on October 29 before opening to the public between October 30 and November 8.
