TOKYO MOTOR SHOW: Next Subaru Levorg and WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition to star

A fresh teaser of a prototype version of the all-new Subaru Levorg, which will make its debut at the Tokyo motor show on October 23, has been released overnight.

Rumoured to be close to production, the short vid of the second-gen Levorg gives us our first look at a rear-three quarter view of the Subaru wagon, which features a flared rear fender, a prominent boot spoiler and an imposing elongated tail-light.

The result is a car that looks like an evolution of the current car.

Under the skin, the Levorq is said to come with the car-maker's new semi-autonomous driving aids but it's not known how advanced they will be.

As well as the Levorq, the Japanese car-maker will also pull the drapes off a WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition.

Sporting McRae-era WRC-inspired gold 19-inch BBS alloy wheels, just 555 will be made – another tribute to the cigarette sponsor that supported the team through the 1990s.

Said to say farewell to the legendary EJ20 engine that dates back to 1989 and still powers Japan-only WRX STIs, it's been confirmed as the last ever Subaru to use the familiar iconic turbo-four that officially ends production in March 2020, although the last WRX STI is said to roll off the line at the end of 2019.

Subaru has announced that such is demand for the model, which will only be available in the Japanese domestic market, that it will hold a lottery to pick the lucky owners for the special WRX STI.
