One of the world’s most loved actors, Tom Hanks, is offering up not just one, but four personal items at the upcoming Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction on the 13th of August, 2021 in California, USA.
The first item the Forrest Gump, Toy Story and Apollo 13 actor is auctioning off is a specially commissioned green 1980 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser hardtop which has been professionally rebuilt and customised with a GM L35 4.3-litre Vortec V6 engine and a GM-sourced 5-speed manual transmission.

While on the inside you’ll find a set of power operated Porsche high back seats (the original seats are included just in case you want to switch them back. Hanks has also added a Sony AM-FM-cassette stereo with extra speakers in the rear and because he lives in California where it's always hot, there is air conditioning to complement the factory fitted heater.

It also comes complete with Hanks’ signature smack bang on the passenger-side dashboard area so you and your passengers will always be reminded of the previous owner. The car is in immaculate condition and would be any FJ and Tom Hanks enthusiast's dream.

While the car will be sold without a reserve, it is expecting to fetch between $100,000 and $170,000. If a Land Cruiser isn’t for you, well maybe Tom Hanks’ personal movie trailer caravan may be up your alley?

The 'silver bullet' Airstream was the on-location home away from home for Hanks while he filmed around a dozen movies across the USA. The 1992 33ft Airstream was ordered and specced out personally by Hanks himself.
"I had spent too much time in regular trailers with ugly decor and horribly uncomfortable furniture,” Hanks says.
"I didn't want anything built-in, other than the kitchen and bathroom, so it had only a desk and cupboard in the back, a futon platform on the floor, and room for a small table and chairs. I wanted a regular sofa, too, so I had one made with removable legs so it would get through the door."

The Airstream comes complete with the furnishings and even mugs Hanks used throughout his time with it and leaves behind his signature throughout the cabin. This caravan played home for Hanks while he was on set for films such as Forrest Gump in South Carolina to Angels and Demons in Culver City, California.

"I shan't forget night shoots on Gump and The Green Mile with the windows open and the cool air coming in. Or the time Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton and I watched a Buster Keaton documentary on the TV – before running through the Forest Lawn cemetery in our Apollo 13 costumes to pay homage at his grave."
"You haven't lived well until you survive a movie-stopping thunderstorm in an Airstream while on location in Carolina."

After nearly 30 years of ownership Hanks is now parting with his Airstream because "movies move faster now" and he "doesn't have as much time during set-ups." The Airstream is expected to reach a price between $200,000 and $340,000!
Also making its way into the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction as part of the Tom Hanks Collection is a 2010 Ford F-450 Super Duty pick-up truck bought specifically to tow the Airstream to locations. Hanks himself did not drive it as towing duties were not part of the movie insurance cover. His high-performance 2015 Tesla Model S P85D is also up for grabs.
